“Holocaust Remembrance: Demand and Defend Your Human Rights,” the theme of International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2019, encourages youth to act against discrimination and defend democratic values in their communities at a time of rising antisemitism and other forms of hatred across the globe.

Marian Turski, a historian, journalist, and activist, is Chair of the Council of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, in Warsaw, Deputy Chair of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland, and recipient of the French National Order of the Legion of Honor.  He shared his testimony as a survivor of Auschwitz at the United Nations during the Holocaust commemoration ceremony in the General Assembly Hall.
